A Lesson in Fear

A request for who is currently apprenticed to everyone's favorite professor of fear, Dr. Jonathan Crane, the Scarecrow!

As Batman villains go, the Scarecrow is without a doubt the absolute yummiest. He's tall, lanky, creepy beyond all reason and wonderfully insane. Seriously, who could ask for more in a fear-inducing sociopath?

This particular Scarecrow design is based off the one portrayed in the graphic novels Batman: Haunted Knight and Batman: The Long Halloween. I own copies of both and I highly recommend them!

The sabotaged bat signal is from Haunted Knight, in which the scarecrow paints it to resemble a jack 'o lantern, in order to lure Batman into discovering that he has kidnapped Commissioner Gordon.

Emily gave me permission to design a new costume for her as long as I kept it black and orange. I kept the striped stockings (cuz you all know how much I love stripes), but tweaked her sweater a bit, made the hood longer, and added a set of cute crow wings strapped to her back. I also stuck a few black feathers into her hair to continue the idea of the crow sidekick. I also added capris instead of a skirt, because the Scarecrow does so much running around (from the Bat of course) in Haunted Knight, I figured wearing pants would make it easier to keep up with him.

I hope you like it, Emily! I had a blast doing it, and wish you luck in your continuing efforts to spread terror throughout Gotham City!
